We found no application or approval for tesamorelin in CDE's public register under its international name or the Chinese name 替莫瑞林, nor on the NMPA innovative-drug approvals list. China requires a marketing approval document before a drug can be produced, imported or sold (Drug Administration Law, Article 98). Our search of NMPA's own database was not possible, so an approval under a different Chinese name cannot be fully excluded. The WADA Prohibited List names tesamorelin among growth-hormone-releasing factors that are banned for athletes.
