Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing

Is Tesamorelin legal in Australia?

Not approvedNot on the ARTG. The Poisons Standard lists growth hormone releasing hormones as a prescription-only class with a possession control.

Not approved as a medicine here.

A keyword search of the ARTG on 29 September 2026 found no tesamorelin product, including under the brand Egrifta. The Poisons Standard does not name tesamorelin, but it lists growth hormone releasing hormones (GHRHs) as a class in Schedule 4 and in Appendix D clause 5 (possession without authority is illegal); check that class entry with the TGA or a state health department before assuming it does not apply. Unapproved goods can be accessed only through routes such as the Special Access Scheme.
