Is Selank legal in New Zealand?

Not approvedNo Medsafe-approved medicine contains Selank; Medsafe's advisory lists a misspelt 'sealank'

Not approved as a medicine here.

Medsafe's May 2026 advisory on unapproved peptides lists 'sealank' and 'seamax' among products sold online, which appear to be misspellings of Selank and Semax. Medsafe says such products are illegal to import, supply or possess without authorisation, and that 'for research purposes only' labels have no legal effect. Medsafe's index of consented medicines, revised 29 September 2026, lists no Selank product. The classification database lists 'tuftsin and its analogues' as a prescription class, which may capture it.
