Retatrutide is an investigational Eli Lilly medicine; Lilly's June 2026 filing says its Phase 3 obesity and type 2 diabetes trials met their primary endpoints, but no approval exists. FDA states that retatrutide cannot be used in compounding under federal law and has sent warning letters to telehealth firms, ingredient distributors, outsourcing facilities and online sellers, including sellers using 'research use only' labels. US customs seized retatrutide in shipments of unapproved peptides in 2026. The only lawful routes are clinical trials and Lilly's single-patient expanded access programme for adults with severe obesity and serious complications.
