Is Retatrutide legal in New Zealand?
Supply is banned or actively enforced against.
Medsafe's consumer advisory of 21 May 2026 names retatrutide as a product it is seeing imported and sold online. It states that retatrutide is still being studied, has not been approved by any trusted regulator apart from overseas clinical trials, and that any retatrutide sold to the public is sourced from the black market. Medsafe says it continues to seize such products and that it is illegal to import, supply or possess prescription medicines without authorisation. Retatrutide is listed by name as a prescription medicine in the Medsafe classification database. 'For research purposes only' labels have no legal effect. Medsafe's Product/Application Search showed no retatrutide product or application on 29 September 2026.
