Is Retatrutide legal in Brazil?

On 2026-07-24 Anvisa said retatrutide is not approved in any country, that its maker has not asked Anvisa for registration, and that it is being offered on irregular websites and seized at Brazil's borders. Anvisa also says selling irregular medicines is a crime under the Penal Code. On 2026-09-08 Resolution 3.480/2026 banned sale, import, advertising and use of the products offered by a website that advertised unregistered tirzepatide and products claimed to contain retatrutide, and ordered them seized. Metrópoles reported that 572 units of retatrutide were among the goods seized at Rio's Galeão airport in the first half of September 2026. Anvisa warns that the contents of such products cannot be verified.
