Medsafe (New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority, Ministry of Health)
Is Orforglipron legal in New Zealand?
Not approved as a medicine here.
Medsafe's index of consented medicines and data sheets, revised 29 September 2026, contains no orforglipron product, and Medsafe's Product/Application Search showed no orforglipron product or application on 29 September 2026. Under the Medicines Act 1981 it cannot be sold, supplied or advertised without Medsafe consent. The Medsafe classification database has a group entry for GLP-1 receptor agonists as prescription medicines, but that does not mean any product is approved. Since November 2025 the law has allowed consent by verification for a medicine already fully approved by two recognised overseas regulators, and Medsafe published the guideline for this route in June 2026.
