Is Orforglipron legal in India?
A regulator is actively reviewing it.
On 20 May 2026 CDSCO's Endocrinology and Metabolism expert committee considered Eli Lilly's application to import and market orforglipron tablets, noted it is approved in the USA, and recommended permission on conditions: retail sale only on prescription from endocrinologists or internal medicine specialists, and a Phase IV study protocol within three months. The records I could reach do not show whether the Drugs Controller has issued the final permission or whether the product is on sale, so it is listed as pending. Indian sites also take part in Lilly's orforglipron trials.
