MOTS-c has no EU marketing authorisation and is absent from the EMA dataset and Union Register. Under Article 6 of Directive 2001/83/EC, no medicine may be placed on the market without a marketing authorisation. WADA's 2026 Prohibited List names MOTS-c under S4.4.1 (metabolic modulators, AMPK activators), so it is banned in sport at all times.
