Liraglutide is licensed in the UK for type 2 diabetes and for weight management; the MHRA's guidance notes that the licensed use depends on the brand. Generic liraglutide pens were authorised in 2024, for example Nevolat (Zentiva, first authorised 27 March 2024) and Biolide (Biocon, April 2024) for weight management, and Diavic (Sun Pharma, June 2024) for type 2 diabetes. NICE guidance TA664 (2020) recommends Saxenda on the NHS only in specialist (tier 3) weight services for people who meet its criteria.
