Is Liraglutide legal in Canada?

The regulator has approved it as a medicine.
Novo Nordisk's Victoza has been marketed since 2010-05 for type 2 diabetes (adults, and ages 10 and up with metformin) and Saxenda since 2015-05 for chronic weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight with a comorbidity, and in ages 12 to under 18 who meet the monograph's criteria. The combination product Xultophy was cancelled post-market on 2025-12-31. The Drug Product Database shows no generic liraglutide, while the list current as of 2026-08-31 shows 11 generic liraglutide submissions from Biocon, Dr. Reddy's, Zydus, Teva, JAMP and Sun Pharma.
