Is Ipamorelin legal in Japan?

Ipamorelin has no approval in PMDA's approved-drug lists, and PMDA's package-insert database returns no ipamorelin product. Under the PMD Act a drug needs MHLW approval (Art. 14) before it is marketed, selling one marketed without approval is prohibited (Art. 55(2)) and advertising it is banned (Art. 68). Individuals may import a prescription drug for their own use up to one month's supply and may not pass it on, and physicians may import an unapproved drug for a patient under their own responsibility. The WADA Prohibited List 2026 names ipamorelin under S2 (growth hormone secretagogues).
