Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), the federal medicines regulator
Is GHK-Cu (copper peptide) legal in United Arab Emirates?
Not approved as a medicine here.
GHK-Cu is a copper-binding peptide, and I found no EDE approval for medicinal or injectable use in the UAE; I did not assess its use as a cosmetic ingredient. In July 2026 the EDE said that calling a product a peptide does not make it an approved medicine, and it took action against 71 sources selling or promoting unapproved peptide products. Federal Decree-Law 38/2024 says no medical product may be circulated or sold in the UAE without EDE marketing approval, and I found no approval for this substance. The decree-law exempts products made in licensed compounding pharmacies from marketing approval, but I found no rule saying whether this peptide may be compounded; the EDE is inspecting compounding pharmacies, and Abu Dhabi's health department says peptides may only be prescribed for appropriate cases supported by scientific evidence.
