Medsafe's index of data sheets for consented medicines, revised 29 September 2026, lists no ecnoglutide product. Under the Medicines Act 1981 a new medicine cannot be sold, supplied or advertised without ministerial consent (delegated to Medsafe). Medsafe states that clinical trials of new medicines need Medsafe and ethics committee approval. The classification database has a group entry for GLP-1 receptor agonists as prescription medicines, which is not an approval.
