Is Ecnoglutide legal in China?
ApprovedApproved in China for type 2 diabetes (January 2026) and weight management (March 2026); Chinese-developed.
The regulator has approved it as a medicine.
NMPA approved Sciwind's ecnoglutide injection for blood-sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes on 2026-01-30. Sciwind announced on 2026-03-06 that NMPA also approved it for chronic weight management in Chinese adults with overweight or obesity, based on the SLIMMER phase 3 trial. It is not on the 2025 national insurance list, which took effect before the approvals.
