Medsafe (New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority, Ministry of Health)
Is BPC-157 legal in New Zealand?
Supply is banned or actively enforced against.
Medsafe's consumer advisory of 21 May 2026 names BPC-157 among products promoted by online sellers. It says it is illegal to import, sell or use such products outside the regulated medicines system, that Medsafe continues to seize them, and that 'for research purposes only' labels have no legal effect. 'Body protective compound 157 and its analogues' is a listed prescription medicine class in the Medsafe classification database. No BPC-157 medicine has Medsafe consent, and Medsafe says it has not assessed such products for quality, safety or effectiveness.
