Is BPC-157 legal in European Union?

Not approvedNot authorised as a medicine in the EU; also on the WADA prohibited list (S0)

Not approved as a medicine here.

BPC-157 has no marketing authorisation in the EU, and it does not appear in the EMA dataset or the Union Register. A substance that may be given to people to change body functions counts as a medicinal product under Article 1(2) of Directive 2001/83/EC, and the definition is not limited to how a product is labelled (Art. 1(2)(b)); in borderline cases the medicines rules take priority (Art. 2(2)). Under Article 6 of Directive 2001/83/EC, no medicine may be placed on the market without a marketing authorisation. WADA lists BPC-157 by name under S0 (non-approved substances), so it is banned in sport at all times.
