Is BPC-157 legal in Australia?

ProhibitedUnapproved and tightly controlled: prescription-only, possession without authority is illegal since 1 June 2024, and the TGA has taken an alleged advertiser to court.

Supply is banned or actively enforced against.

BPC-157 has been in Schedule 4 and Appendix D clause 5 of the Poisons Standard since 1 June 2024, after 48 import referrals to the TGA, so possessing it without authority such as a prescription is illegal. It is not on the ARTG; the TGA names it as an unapproved peptide product and warns that importing, advertising, manufacturing or supplying such products is unlawful. In September 2026 the TGA started civil Federal Court proceedings, seeking declarations and penalties, over alleged advertising of BPC-157 and other peptides. It is also a non-approved substance under the sports anti-doping list.
