On 1 May 2026 Apotex announced that Health Canada had approved Apo-Semaglutide Injection, a generic equivalent of Ozempic (semaglutide injection). Apotex described itself as the first Canadian-based pharmaceutical company to gain authorisation for a generic equivalent of Ozempic.[src]

On 14 May 2026 Apotex announced the commercial launch of Apo-Semaglutide Injection in Canada, saying initial inventory was shipping to wholesalers and would reach pharmacy shelves within the coming weeks.[src]
Canada: Sevmia for chronic weight management (June 2026)
On 30 June 2026 Apotex announced that it was the first to receive Health Canada approval for a generic equivalent of Wegovy (semaglutide injection) for chronic weight management in adults, branded Sevmia.[src]
US: FDA tentative approval (April 2026)
On 10 April 2026 Apotex Corp. announced that it had received the first US FDA tentative approval for its abbreviated new drug application for semaglutide injection, developed in partnership with Orbicular Pharmaceutical Technologies. First quarter fiscal 2027 results (August 2026)
For the three months ended 30 June 2026 Apotex reported Canadian revenue up C$43 million, or about 11%, to C$413 million, and attributed the increase to new products launched in the year, including the first-to-market launch of semaglutide.[src]
